A MARRIED couple was charged with trafficking Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) last week.
Teoh Wai Loon, 44, and his wife, Lim Suk Pei, 38, were charged with committing the offence together at about 10.30 pm on August 4.
According to the charge, the two accused were charged with trafficking the dangerous drug MDMA weighing an estimated 480.60 grams in a room at a premises at Bercham Bistari 4, Medan Bercham Bistari in Ipoh.
The offence was allegedly committed in the Kinta district and the state of Perak under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which is punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same act.
If convicted, both accused face the death penalty or life imprisonment, and if not sentenced to death, they must be whipped with no less than 12 strokes.
The charge was presented by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Zulqarnain Wan Asmira before Magistrate S Punitha.
The court set December 7 for mention of the case and submission of the chemical report.
No bail was offered for the two accused. – August 12, 2026
