DATUK Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today with failing to comply with a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) notice requiring him to declare his assets.
The 66-year-old former prime minister pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Judge Suzana Hussin.
"I understand, plead not guilty and ask to be tried," he said.
The Bera MP was charged under Section 36(2) of the MACC Act with failing to comply with the terms of an asset declaration notice from the anti-graft agency.
According to the charge, Ismail Sabri allegedly failed to comply with an MACC notice requiring him to declare assets comprising RM14,772,150, S$6,132,350, US$1,461,400, CHF3 million, €12,164,150, ¥363 million, £50,250, NZ$44,600, AED34.75 million and A$352,850.

Earlier, Ismail Sabri was summoned several times to record statements regarding his asset declarations made to the MACC.
During the investigation, the MACC also seized cash totalling RM170 million in various foreign currencies in addition to confiscating 16 kilograms of pure gold bars estimated to be worth RM7 million.
The seizure took place during a search of a residence and office believed to be a 'safe house', following an investigation into four senior officers of Ismail Sabri who were arrested in February 2025.
Deputy public prosecutor Farah Ezlin Yusop Khan prosecuted, while a legal team led by Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad represented Ismail Sabri.
His court appearance was initially scheduled for Aug 7 but was postponed after he was hospitalised following health complications.
Amer Hamzah previously said Ismail Sabri experienced health complications while having his statement recorded at MACC headquarters on Aug 6.
He later underwent a leadless pacemaker implantation procedure to treat an abnormal heart rhythm.
Ismail Sabri remains under MACC bail, with his lawyer saying there are no concerns that he will abscond.
