A pregnant woman suffers breathing difficulties after escaping on her own from a fire that damaged two single-storey terrace houses in Taman Tenaga, Kajang, late last night.

A PREGNANT woman suffered breathing difficulties after escaping from a fire that damaged two single-storey terrace houses in Jalan Tenaga 11, Taman Tenaga in Kajang, late last night.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Ashbar said the department received an emergency call about the incident at 12.23am.

Firefighters from the Bangi Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene eight minutes later, accompanied by personnel from the Kajang Fire and Rescue Station.

“The fire involved two single-storey terrace houses.

“The first house was about 60 per cent destroyed, while the second sustained about five per cent damage,” he said in a statement today.

Ashrul Riezal said the pregnant woman managed to escape from the house on her own before experiencing breathing difficulties.

“The victim was subsequently given initial treatment by personnel from the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit,” he said. - August 26, 2026
