POLICE have arrested two directors of Mandiri Development Centre Sdn Bhd as part of an investigation into funds suspected to be linked to proceeds from illegal activities, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said.

Mohd Khalid said an investigation paper was opened on Sept 10 under Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

The investigation followed a police report based on a review of the company concerning the suspected receipt of funds linked to proceeds from illegal activities between 2024 and 2026, he said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The two individuals who are directors of Mandiri Development Centre Sdn Bhd were arrested at 3.53pm yesterday (Tuesday).

“Both were arrested at the Anti-Money Laundering Criminal Investigation Office, Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur, to assist investigations,” he said.

Mohd Khalid said the investigation would cover the storage, transfer and use of the funds, as well as the deposit and withdrawal of money suspected to be linked to proceeds from illegal activities.

“Investigations also cover aspects of the storage, transfer, use as well as the deposit or withdrawal of money suspected to be linked to proceeds from illegal activities,” he said.

He said police would continue a comprehensive investigation in accordance with the law against any parties suspected of having links to the case.

Mohd Khalid also urged the public not to speculate or circulate unverified information about the ongoing investigation.

“Any statement or dissemination of information that is not based on facts can mislead the public and potentially affect the smooth conduct of the investigation,” he said.

He assured that the investigation would be conducted professionally and transparently and in accordance with applicable laws. - September 23, 2026
