FORMER economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has handed his lawyers video footage and a transcript of remarks made by Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, following the latter’s accusation that he (Rafizi) was a “serial liar.”

Rafizi said he would provide an update on his lawyers’ response after they reviewed the material.

In a post on Threads last night, he said he had submitted the footage and transcript following Ramanan’s remarks at a media conference on Wednesday.

“Uncle (Rafizi) could only smile watching Ramanan go round in circles earlier. I have handed the video and transcript to my lawyers. Tomorrow, I will update you on what the lawyers say,” he wrote.

Ramanan, who is also a PKR vice-president, accused Rafizi, a former PKR deputy president, of repeatedly making false statements and distorting circumstances before apologising.

He also criticised Rafizi for seeking public donations after losing court cases, describing the practice as particularly irritating.

Ramanan further challenged Rafizi to address allegations involving former Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, particularly claims of abuse of power linked to Yayasan Hijau Malaysia.

The latest exchange comes amid a separate dispute over allegations involving businessman Victor Chin. Rafizi had previously said he had yet to receive a writ of summons from Ramanan over allegations that the minister received RM9.5 million from Chin to resolve a corporate mafia issue.

Rafizi has not disclosed what legal action his lawyers may pursue following their review of the video and transcript. - October 23, 2026
