KUALA LUMPUR – Ben’s Independent Grocer (BIG) has confirmed that an employee at its Publika outlet’s wine and spirit department tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

The grocery store chain, in a statement today, said staff identified as close contacts will undergo swab tests and observe the home surveillance order while the Health Ministry conducts contact tracing.

It added that the store was closed yesterday for deep cleaning.

“Please be aware we were informed that one of our staff at Publika from the Wine and Spirit department was confirmed Covid-19-positive on January 7. Staff identified as close contacts will undergo swab tests and be sent for home quarantine. The Health Ministry will conduct contact tracing.

“The store underwent deep sanitisation on January 7 for the safety of our customers and staff. We will continue to provide an information update.”

The company said it will prioritise the safety of customers and staff, and urged everyone to take precautionary measures amid the Covid-19 pandemic. – The Vibes, January 8, 2021
