PUTRAJAYA – The Health Ministry has established that Levels 1 and 2 Covid-19 patients will undergo treatment and quarantine at home, and be monitored by health workers, said Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
He said a task force has been formed at the Crisis Preparedness and Emergency Response Centre level, as well as the state and district levels, to monitor patients being treated at home.
Those with symptoms will be treated in hospital, he told the press here today.
“We are doing this as we need to act fast to treat and isolate cases, and towards this end, the ministry will continue with contact tracing in efforts to flatten the Covid-19 curve.”
He said Levels 1 and 2 patients will observe a 10-day quarantine at home, with screening to be conducted on the last day.
“The screening will be done in their respective homes.”
Dr Adham said ministry staff will assess the size of the house and the number of occupants when deciding whether to allow patients to undergo home quarantine.
“If the facilities at home are satisfactory, with sufficient space for isolation, and the family understand the need for quarantine and the standard operating procedures set by the ministry… (patients) will be treated at home.”
He said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah will give details on the matter soon.
On January 4, Dr Noor Hisham said the ministry is considering isolating and treating coronavirus patients who have mild to no symptoms at home, as the country’s health facilities are stretched to their limit. – Bernama, January 12, 2021
