KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Najib Razak today reminded the cabinet to not practise double standards when it comes to adhering to Covid-19 SOPs.
Otherwise, it risks creating a "cabinet cluster", Najib said in a post on Facebook today.
Referring to three ministers who recently tested positive for the virus, the former prime minister laid down a timeline showing that ministers did not self-isolate following reports that their colleagues had tested positive.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed tested positive last Sunday. A day later, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun tested positive.
Today, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin was confirmed as having the virus.
The last cabinet meeting was held on January 6. Then, a Bersatu supreme council meeting took place on the night of January 7.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof and Multimedia and Communications Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, who sat closest to Mustapa in the cabinet meeting, have gone into self-isolation.
The incubation period of Covid-19 is between 10 and 14 days.
“This means everyone who attended both meetings should have quarantined themselves at least until January 17 after three ministers tested positive for Covid-19,” Najib said.
“The Health Ministry must ensure that they not be allowed to attend public events or physical meetings during this period.
"Make sure there are no double standards, lest we have a 'cabinet cluster'.”
