BAU – Two young Bidayuh elected representatives have joined forces to distribute aid and boost the spirit of victims in the Serembu state seat here, which was hit by floods and landslides, yesterday.
Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin and Serembu assemblyman Miro Saymour Simuh visited and engaged the victims from several villages at temporary relief centres in the constituency.
Willie, who is also deputy plantation industries and commodities minister, said he was committed to help the victims and urged them to be patient as the process to distribute food packages, money, and other aid had started.
Meanwhile, Miro promised that several excavators would be delivered to clear village paths and roads buried by landslides in the constituency.
Over 100 families in the area were affected as of yesterday. Among the villages inundated were Kg Keranji, Siniawan Baru, Peninjau Baru, Kopit, Puak, Segubang, Belimbin, Sogo, Skio, and the town of Seniawan. – Bernama, January 15, 2021
