KUALA LUMPUR – The government has formed a technical management committee to oversee and manage the country’s state of emergency.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the committee will monitor the progress and implementation of the emergency as well as examine and review any recurring issues and find solutions.
“The committee will also streamline the management of the state of emergency with the state governments as well as the federal territories,” Muhyiddin said in a Facebook post today.
Muhyiddin said the committee will be co-chaired by the law minister and chief secretary to the government, and if needed, the committee has also been tasked to spearhead and enforce emergency-related laws.
Muhyiddin had earlier chaired the National Security Council meeting in Putrajaya, the first he has chaired after the proclamation of emergency by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Tuesday.
The committee comprises eight permanent members which are the Public Services Department secretary-general, Treasury secretary-general, the Attorney-General, Armed Forces chief, the inspector-general ofpPolice, health secretary-general, National Security Council director-general, and cluster heads.
