KUALA LUMPUR – AME Elite Consortium Bhd said its subsidiary, I Stay Management Sdn Bhd, has notified that 22 Covid-19 cases were detected among its tenants’ foreign workers living at its dormitories in Kulai and Senai, Johor.
AME, in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, said I Stay Management detected 20 infections among workers living at the i-Stay@Indahpura dorm, and the other two at the i-Stay@Senai Airport City facility.
The leading integrated industrial space solutions provider said the Health Ministry has been informed, and the affected workers are either being treated at a government hospital or undergoing quarantine in a designated area.
“As an immediate response, the company has carried out contact tracing and facilitated the arrangement of immediate swab tests for the patients’ close contacts.
“These close contacts are currently undergoing a 14-day quarantine at a designated quarantine centre while waiting for their test results.”
It said sanitisation work has been carried out at the dorms in question.
“The reported Covid-19 cases are not expected to materially affect the company’s financials and operations, as there is no disruption to the business operations at i-Stay@Indahpura and i-Stay@Senai Airport City.
“The cost of the Covid-19 tests is borne by the respective employers of the foreign workers.”
AME has set up its own quarantine centre, located off-site. The facility has received approval from the Johor Baru district office to begin operations. – Bernama, January 18, 2021
