PUTRAJAYA – Fire and Rescue Department personnel involved in the Covid-19 fight will get a RM300 one-off payment under the Perlindungan Ekonomi dan Rakyat Malaysia (Permai) package, said Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.
In a statement today, she said this shows that the government highly appreciates firefighters’ contributions to efforts to contain the pandemic.
When unveiling the RM15 billion Permai on Monday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said a one-off payment of RM500 will be given to all health frontliners, while other personnel involved in the Covid-19 fight will get RM300, with the payments to be made in the first quarter of the year.
Zuraida said Permai, which contains 22 initiatives, proves that Putrajaya is proactive in managing the economic impact of the movement control order, which has been imposed for a second time.
“The direct fiscal injections through various initiatives to safeguard the welfare of the people and ensure business continuity will definitely have a positive impact on the national economy and ensure the people’s well-being.” – Bernama, January 20, 2021
