KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today recorded 18 coronavirus fatalities, its highest daily death toll since the start of the pandemic, reported the Health Ministry.
This takes overall deaths to 660.
The country also recorded 3,631 fresh infections, pushing up the national Covid-19 tally to 176,180, of which 42,814 are active cases.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry announced 3,631 positive infections detected today.
Selangor recorded the highest number of infections at 782 cases, followed by Johor (466), Sabah (453), Kuala Lumpur (441), Sarawak (229), Penang (202), Negri Sembilan (197), Terengganu (178), Kedah (166), Kelantan (161), Malacca (82), Pahang (61), Putrajaya (39), Labuan (29), and Perlis (13).
As for clusters, the Health Ministry announced 12 new ones today, with five involving Johor.
The clusters of Jalan Indah Gemilang, Jalan Perwira, Selasih Perindu, Tembok Rengggam, and Jalan Skudai were detected in Johor.
Selangor and Putrajaya have two new clusters, namely the Jalan Sungai Chandong and Putra Tujuh cluster.
Sabah and Labuan also detected two clusters involving worksites, which are the Jalan Kinabenua and the Ladang Desa Jerocco.
Two clusters were also detected in Pahang, namely Tanjung Lumpur and Kampung Paya Siput.
Melaka only detected one cluster stemming from the community, called the Serkam cluster. – The Vibes, January 22, 2021
