KUALA LUMPUR – A 66-year-old man who contracted Covid-19 was found dead last night in his home in Bandar Putra Permai, Seri Kembangan here with a wound on the throat and a knife beside him.

Astro Awani reported that Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Razali Abu Samah said the police and officers from the Health Ministry were at the scene about 9pm yesterday.

“We found a slash wound in the throat of the 66-year-old man and a knife next to the victim's body.

“Investigations showed that the victim had a swab test at a private hospital on January 7 and was confirmed to have Covid-19 the next day. A second swab test was done on January 18 and the results on January 20 showed he was still positive,” Razali was quoted as saying.

He added that the victim had spent a lot of money for his Covid-19 treatment at a private hospital.

“His wife said the victim also complained of being in pain and depressed after he contracted the virus.”

The police said there were no signs of a break-in at the house and nothing was missing.

The case is classified as sudden death.
