KOTA KINABALU – Putrajaya must make up its mind on whether to call for a total lockdown or allow all businesses to resume with tighter standard operating procedures, said Sabah DAP Youth.
Its chief, Phoong Jin Zhe, in a Facebook post yesterday said the movement control order (MCO) currently in place is ineffective, and the SOPs are confusing.
“It is obvious that the current MCO is not strict. People are still wandering around outside, with certain sectors allowed to operate, but with confusing SOPs.
“The government should either implement a complete lockdown, or just open up all economic sectors, but with the implementation of strict SOPs.
“Choose one. Don’t stay in the middle and not achieve both.”
The Luyang assemblyman urged the federal government to undertake a mass Covid-19 swab testing programme and implement stricter quarantine rules.
He added that the government needs to decide on a long-term plan as the pandemic looks set to continue for the short term.
“We need to know the government’s approach and plan for the next couple of years because this is related to the lives of the people.” – The Vibes, January 25, 2021
