SEREMBAN – Seremban Umno today denied that it urged Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to step down as party president.
Its chief, Mustafa Salim, said a banner demanding Zahid’s resignation that was put up in Sikamat here, allegedly by Seremban Umno, was “political provocation” by certain quarters.
“It was an unethical act and a political provocation by certain quarters aiming to create disharmony among the Umno leadership at the central and divisional levels, for the sake of their own political interests.
“Seremban Umno stands firm in upholding the party’s constitution and defending its presidential institution,” he said in a statement today.
He said two reports have been lodged, one each at the Seremban and Sikamat police stations. – Bernama, January 25, 2021
