KUALA LUMPUR – Ikea Cheras is closed from today onwards after its security guards tested positive for Covid-19 in a routine screening.

In a statement on its website, it said the infected guards last worked on Saturday, adding that its remaining security personnel are now in self-quarantine until further notice from the authorities.

“The health, safety and overall well-being of our co-workers, customers, partners, and community are our top priorities.

“Therefore, we are taking precautionary measures to close our Cheras store on January 25 for sanitisation and full contact tracing in accordance to the Health Ministry’s standards.

“Our co-workers, who were in close contact (with the infected guards), have been placed on home quarantine and are undergoing Covid-19 swab tests.

“We have and will continue to carry out all necessary safety measures, including replacing our service partners’ workers.”

On January 2, the Ikea outlet in Mutiara Damansara had to close, following the detection of several Covid-19 cases.

The confirmed cases, involving its co-workers and service partners, were also detected after a routine screening.

However, the company did not reveal how many cases were detected in total. – The Vibes, January 25, 2021
