Penang cops urge public to lodge report after viral video of assault on senior citizen

by Arulldas Sinnappan

GEORGE TOWN – Police are seeking eyewitnesses who can provide information with regards to a fist fight between an unidentified man and a senior citizen at the Komtar main bus depot.

The fight was captured on video and uploaded on Facebook before it went viral.

The actual date of the video remains unverified and, as yet, it is still uncertain when the incident took place.

However, what was disturbing was the lack of empathy by the public to step forward and aid the old man who was kicked and punched in the fight.

The 4-minute video shows a man assaulting the senior citizen by punching, kicking and shouting at him while displaying martial arts and boxing stunts.

The victim tried to defend himself but failed.

George Town district police chief ACP Soffian Santong when contacted said there was no such report from the public over the incident.

He urged the victim or members of the public to come forward to lodge a report in order for police to initiate investigations. – The Vibes, January 26, 2021
