KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor is offering its citizens up to 10,000 jobs over the next three years.

Under the RM58 million funded Selangor Kerjaya programme, the employment opportunities will be provided through profiling, upskilling, and job placements.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said 2,000 jobs were expected to be filled this year by graduates, secondary school-leavers, and the recently retrenched.

The talent management programme takes into consideration the high unemployment rate among youths and layoffs due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Those selected will undergo an online training programme with their employers for a year to hone their talents and skills. They will also undergo a mentoring process to ensure they can adapt well to the job.

“This is a win-win situation for all in addressing the issue of unemployment and job offerings,” he said at  the virtual launch of the programme today.

According to Amirudin, the aerospace industry will be among the key sectors to benefit from this talent management programme.

The state government will develop an integrated database on the workforce and the skills framework in the aerospace industry in order to prepare the necessary training to support high value industries in the state.

“It is clear Selangor Kerjaya’s objective has the potential to revitalise the state’s economy. Sectors that are involved in the programme are large and reputable corporations, with a positive and impressive career record.

“With the offering of these exciting jobs, I am confident that this is the best career platform for those seeking to build one,” he said.
