KOTA KINABALU – Calls for Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to resign as Umno president will only cause discord and weaken the party.
In backing Zahid, Sabah Wanita Umno head Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid said party members should stop calling for the party president to quit.
“We faced trying times when Barisan Nasional and Umno lost in the 14th general election.
“Let us learn from it; we must be united for the party to remain strong.
“Umno leaders and members should not let strife destroy the foundation that we have built over the years,” said Jainab in a statement.
Calls for Zahid to step down as president have been increasing over the notion that Umno will benefit from being led by someone who is not facing trial.
Jainab also said Wanita Umno will focus on helping the people during the pandemic and work to ensure victory for the party in the next general election. – The Vibes, January 29, 2021
