KUALA LUMPUR – A Felcra settlement in Perak will be put under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from tomorrow until February 16, due to the rising number of Covid-19 infections in the area.
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a statement today that the Health Ministry had detected 28 Covid-19 cases there, with 45 individuals undergoing home quarantine at Felcra Nasaruddin.
He also announced an EMCO for Felda Bersia in Hulu Perak, after 20 positive virus cases were found among 51 individuals screened.
“Upon advice and risk assessment by the Health Ministry, the National Security Council agreed to also implement an EMCO from tomorrow until February 16 (in Felda Bersia).
“The implementation of the EMCO is to enable targeted large-scale screening for 800 individuals.”
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO at Kg Orang Asli Batu 6 in Batang Padang, Perak, is being extended from February 4 to February 10.
“At present, the ministry has conducted 309 tests, from which 27 positive cases were recorded. The ministry also confirmed that 34 residents are still undergoing home quarantine, with one positive case under isolation.”
On a positive note, Ismail Sabri also announced the end of the EMCO at two blocks of the Muar Reformatory School from tomorrow.
On another matter, Ismail Sabri said the supply of necessities is presently sufficient and will continue to meet the needs of the country.
He said the enforcement division of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry conducted daily monitoring on the supply of 11 types of goods at 704 business premises, including retailers (530 premises), wholesalers (144) and manufacturers (30).
The enforcement officers also conducted 1,622 special inspections for MCO standard operating procedure compliance and found 1,601 compliant premises while six others were advised to improve.
Eight premises received warnings while seven premises were compounded.
Meanwhile, he said 16 undocumented migrants, two skippers and six vehicles were seized in Op Benteng yesterday.
As of yesterday, 63 sanitation operations involving 41 red zones, four orange zones, five yellow zones, and one green zone were executed nationwide.
A total of 680 individuals were yesterday arrested, with 630 issued compounds and 49 remanded, while one posted bail for flouting movement curbs, said Ismail Sabri, with the top offence being unauthorised interstate travel (140 cases). – The Vibes, February 2, 2021
