PUTRAJAYA – Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin returned to duty today following his recovery from Covid-19, and shared his experience being stricken by the virus.
“It’s painful… who said it isn’t painful? My whole body felt like I was having nerve pain. You feel fatigued and weak, and if it attacked your head like it did me, Allah… it felt like your head would explode,” he told a media conference on the registration status of Pejuang and Muda here today.
“My liver enzymes rose to a level of 900, so the doctor had to be careful when administering medication. My fever was up to 38.9°C,” said Hamzah, who was confirmed positive for the disease on January 12.
Although he is now free of the coronavirus, Hamzah said he still has to undergo physiotherapy for his lungs at least twice a week.
“I was admitted to hospital on January 12, and although I was allowed to be discharged on January 24, I had to stay at home for another week.
“To those who prayed that (my condition) would get worse, I forgive them, because I study the Quran… and the more I’m criticised, the more merit I accumulate,” he said, adding that he spent a lot of time during his hospital stay engaged in religious pursuits.
On the 13 police reports lodged against opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for allegedly inciting the people and threatening national peace and security, Hamzah said investigation papers have been opened.
He said several other individuals, too, will be investigated.
Anwar had suggested that all MPs send letters to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong seeking a revocation of the emergency declaration and for Parliament to convene as soon as possible. – Bernama, February 2, 2021
