KUALA LUMPUR – It has been more than two weeks since the Pakatan Harapan presidential council provided the government with a list of names for the special committee on the emergency, having received no feedback since.
“A list of names was submitted to the government more than two weeks ago, but we have not received any feedback on the committee’s activation to date.
“This is disappointing as we were given the impression that the committee is necessary to monitor the current situation and make recommendations to end the emergency,” the council said in a statement today.
The council also said that the elections should be put on hold until the pandemic ends and the economy is strengthened.
The council said that it took issue with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for raising the issue of a general election so frequently.

“It is clear that most Malaysians do not want a general election during this time, and would rather have political stability, as well as a solution to issues of the economy and pandemic.
“Thus, Pakatan Harapan stands firm with our view that the general elections should not be held as the mandate given by the people is valid until 2023,” the council said after its monthly meeting.
It added that what is needed is for the mandate to be returned soonest to the rightful party. – The Vibes, February 5, 2021
