KUALA LUMPUR – The Sports Commissioner’s Office (PPS) is encouraging sports associations and bodies to hold their annual general meetings (AGMs) and election of committee members online in order to meet the requirements of their respective constitutions.
In a statement released today, PPS recommended the groups prepare mechanisms for the implementation of the AGMs and the method of selecting committee members in accordance with the new norms.
“The conduct of the meeting must also comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the National Security Council,” it said.
According to PPS, several sports associations registered with the Sports Development Act 1997 have expressed a desire to hold their AGMs, which have been on hold since last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The statement said the Youth and Sports Ministry is very concerned about health and safety factors involving all sports bodies, as well as the survival of sports facilities operators and the entire country’s sports industry.
“At the same time, sports bodies need to be managed in an orderly manner,” it added. – Bernama, February 7, 2021
