JOHOR BARU – The Johor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) was badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, with eight of its personnel testing positive and 176 others undergoing quarantine until January 31 this year.
State JBPM director Datuk Yahaya Madis in his 2021 preliminary address streamed via the JBPM Facebook page today said four fire stations in Johor were affected, and their personnel had to be deployed to nearby stations.
He also said the Johor department recorded the second-highest number of public sanitation operations in Malaysia after Sabah.
“Johor JBPM recorded a total of 2,552 sanitation operations involving 1,015 government buildings, 214 houses of worship, 541 public places, and 782 other localities,” he said. – Bernama, February 10, 2021
