SERDANG – The one-off payment of RM500 to 140,000 Health Ministry (MoH) frontliners will be paid starting March 1, said minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
He said eligible employees can apply for the payment from this month.
“This one-off assistance is in addition to the Covid-19 special allowance of RM600 per month for frontliners, which has been paid since March last year.
“This assistance is for frontliners who are directly involved in handling duties related to Covid-19.”
Dr Adham said MoH secretary-general Datuk Mohd Shafiq Abdullah will issue a circular to explain the implementation of the one-off payment.
“It is hoped that this provision can motivate the ministry’s frontliners to continue their struggle against the Covid-19 pandemic.”
On January 18, during the special announcement of the Malaysian Economic and People’s Protection Assistance Package, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced a one-off payment of RM500 to MoH staff members, to be paid in the first quarter of the year.
In another matter, Dr Adham said UPM Teaching Hospital – an institution under the Higher Education Ministry – has been selected as a Covid-19 vaccination centre for the national immunisation programme, slated for February 26.
He said each selected vaccination centre should make preparations according to the set standards.
He said seven staff members, comprising medical officers and nurses, will be stationed at each vaccine injection facility, adding that 210 recipients of the immunisation will be injected daily. – Bernama, February 11, 2021
