KUALA LUMPUR – A police report has been lodged over two videos allegedly defaming Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, one of which makes it seem as if he violated movement control order (MCO) rules.

The report was lodged by his press secretary, Azlina Md Rosdy @ Rozzy, at the Dang Wangi police headquarters about noon today.

Speaking to the press after lodging the report, she said the clips could cause confusion and spark anger among the public, in addition to tarnishing Ismail Sabri’s credibility.

“The first video, of Ismail Sabri’s daily press conference on April 14 last year, has been shared as if it was recent, stating that no more compounds will be issued to those who violate the SOPs, and instead, they will be jailed.

“It is an old video, and the government has since made various improvements to the SOP implementation.”

She said the second clip, titled “Sendiri buat SOP, sendiri langgar”, made it seem as if Ismail Sabri breached Covid-19 measures by attending a Chinese New Year event.

The video is of a programme held in conjunction with the Warriors’ Day Fund campaign on September 15 last year, during the recovery MCO (RMCO), said Azlina.

“During the RMCO, events, including weddings, were allowed to be held. There was no violation of the SOPs (by Ismail Sabri).” – Bernama, February 13, 2021
