PUTRAJAYA – The office of the Federal Territories mufti has agreed to adopt the resolution of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs’ fatwa committee meeting on December 3 last year, that the use of the Covid-19 vaccine is “harus” (permissible).
The meeting also decided that it is “wajib” (obligatory) for groups that have been identified by the government.
Federal Territories Mufti Datuk Luqman Abdullah, in a statement today, said his office fully supports the national immunisation programme, which is expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks.
“The matter was decided after taking into account the government’s stance that only vaccines identified as halal will be used for the programme.”
He said his office’s decision was reached at a meeting on Thursday.
He called on Muslims nationwide, and especially those in the Federal Territories, to respect the fatwa on the use of the vaccine. – Bernama, February 14, 2021
