KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor will start its Covid-19 immunisation drive tomorrow, said Khairy Jamaluddin.
The national vaccination programme coordinating minister told a press conference after the initiative’s launch in Putrajaya today that Pahang, Sarawak and Terengganu will start on Friday, Labuan on Saturday, and Kedah and Penang on Sunday.
Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Johor, Perak and Perlis will begin on Monday, followed by Kelantan, Melaka and Negri Sembilan on Tuesday, and Sabah the next day.
He added that Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine is still being evaluated.
Khairy said Covid-19 vaccines from Sinovac, CanSinoBio, AstraZeneca and Sputnik V are also under review by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency.
He said the vaccination exercise will be implemented in stages, as not all of the 532 vaccine dispensing centres identified nationwide have received doses due to limited supply.
“The doses will be increased from time to time according to the delivery schedule, as previously announced.
“Thorough preparations are being carried out nationwide, and we believe the exercise will run smoothly and safely upon commencement.”
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was the first to receive the coronavirus vaccine this afternoon.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and four other Health Ministry personnel also received their shots.
