JOHOR BARU – Perikatan Nasional’s focus on public issues and Malaysians’ concerns instead of politicking is likely the reason for the increase in support for the ruling pact – from across the aisle.
Johor PN secretary Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal also cited the government’s transparency and integrity as contributing factors.
“I do not view it (shifting support) as a big issue. The issue of (alleged) buying (of support)… that is not a comment from us (PN). The important thing is, I feel more opposition MPs and assemblymen see the PN government as being more transparent.
“So, we’ll leave it to them to evaluate the PN government. The government engages less in politicking, instead focusing more on public issues and the people’s concerns,” he told reporters at the state Health Department here today.
He was commenting on PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s claim that the ruling coalition is struggling to “buy and threaten” MPs before Parliament reconvenes.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that he has received statutory declarations from Tebrau MP Steven Choong and Julau’s Larry Sng, both from PKR, declaring their support for his administration. – Bernama, March 2, 2021
