KUALA LUMPUR – Buntong assemblyman A. Sivasubramaniam’s defection to Bersatu has caught Perak Gerakan unawares.
Chairman See Tean Seng said he found out about the matter only from media reports today.
He told Free Malaysia Today that he was not informed by Bersatu or Sivasubramaniam about the defection.
“I’m unable to comment on the matter. Let the headquarters issue a statement.”
Gerakan is Bersatu’s ally in the ruling Perikatan Nasional coalition.
Bersatu today confirmed the memberships of Sivasubramaniam and Tronoh rep Paul Yong.
The duo’s membership applications were submitted and approved last December.
Yong and Sivasubramaniam were DAP members before they declared themselves independents on March 9 last year.
Sivasubramaniam on June 26 last year joined Gerakan, becoming the party’s sole elected representative. – The Vibes, March 5, 2021
