KUALA LUMPUR – Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today became the oldest Malaysian citizen to receive the Covid-19 vaccine today, after he was inoculated alongside the second group of frontliners in Langkawi.

The island’s federal lawmaker had gone for a visit to the Covid-19 vaccine centre in Langkawi to observe the first out of three phases of the government’s vaccination programme.

“I chose to be vaccinated with the second group of frontliners here.

“The first group of frontliners in Langkawi had been vaccinated earlier.

“As a senior citizen, I would like to invite not just other senior citizens like myself but also the younger members of the public to be vaccinated when their turn comes.

“We must support this effort.

“We truly want more people to be vaccinated to help curb the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Alhamdullillah (thank Allah) that after my jab, I don’t feel anything out of the ordinary,” said the 96-year-old MP.

He also voiced his appreciation to the Kuah Health Clinic, Langkawi Hospital and other frontliners tirelessly working to ensure the vaccination programme runs smoothly. – The Vibes, March 7, 2021
