KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today obtained a court order to compel former Bersatu women’s wing head Anina Saadudin to immediately delete from her social media accounts all allegedly defamatory remarks made about him.
The defence minister is suing the 46-year-old for allegedly defaming him on Facebook, and accusing him of being incompetent in discharging his duties during the implementation of the movement control order.
His lawyer, Ragunath Kesavan, told reporters that high court judge Datuk Seri Mohd Firuz Jaffril allowed his client’s ex parte interim injunction application this afternoon.
“The court also fixed March 25 for case management.”
In the application, filed with a writ of summons on March 5, Ismail Sabri applied for an injunction order to force Anina to immediately delete all the allegedly defamatory remarks about him on her Facebook page.
Ismail Sabri also applied for an injunction order to restrain Anina, or her agent or representative, from making other defamatory comments on her Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
He filed the application on the grounds that Anina constantly, since early last month, posted untrue and defamatory remarks about him.
He said even after he lodged a police report on the matter, the defendant showed no remorse and continued to post 12 defamatory comments about him on February 13, 17, 18, 19 and 23, which prompted him to send her a letter on February 24, demanding that she immediately delete the posts.
Ismail Sabri said his letter of demand went unanswered, and Anina posted another two defamatory remarks about him on March 3.
He said the 13 remarks made by Anina between February 5 and March 3 were shared by other Facebook users.
The posts imply that he is just a “puppet” executing the prime minister’s orders, and that he is an inefficient and incompetent minister. – Bernama, March 11, 2021
