SEREMBAN – The Negri Sembilan Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties – Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), PAS, and Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan) – have agreed to ensure that there will be no three-cornered fight for all seats in the state in 15th General Election (GE15) as it will not do any good to any party.
The state PN chairman Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith said they were also willing to discuss with its ally Barisan Nasional (BN) to get their cooperation on the matter.
“Bersatu, PAS, and Gerakan had agreed in principle to avoid a three-cornered fight, and PN is not ruling out the possibility to discuss the matter with BN.
“Basically, both PN and BN have quite a similar basis of struggle, so we can compromise,” he said after announcing the Negeri Sembilan PN Liaison Committee line-up here today.
Eddin Syazlee said he also believed that by avoiding three-cornered fights, the coalition would be able to strengthen the list of its candidates to be fielded at the GE15.
However, he said the distribution of PN seats for the GE15 had yet to be discussed at the state level and the state PN leadership is open to any suggestion from the component parties.
Eddin Syazlee said at this stage, they would strive more to build a solid foundation for the parties to be able to work together in a more systematic way.
He also expressed confidence that, even without the cooperation from BN, the ruling PN coalition will continue to be accepted by the people in the state.
The Negri Sembilan PN office bearer line-up consists of chairman Eddin Syazlee (Bersatu); vice-chairmen Rafiei Mustapha (PAS), David Choong (Gerakan), and Mohd Hanapi Mohd Zain (Bersatu); secretary Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunus (Bersatu); information chief Muhammad Badzli Abu Bakar (PAS); Wanita chief Fazilah Abdul Samah (PAS), and Youth chief Danni Rais (Bersatu). – Bernama, March 17, 2021
