IPOH – The Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council has appointed two youth members in a historic acknowledgement to the group, thus providing a platform to youth as stakeholders to discuss council policies.
Wan Mohammad Afiq Wan Arisfatillah and Ezatul Farita Rohawi received their letters of appointment as members of the council from Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at Darul Ridzuan Islamic Complex here today.
Wan Afiq, 23, said the recognition is priceless, and will allow them to play a role in voicing opinions and views for the economic and social development of Muslims in the state.
“With our involvement, insyaAllah, we will elevate appreciation of Islam among youth in Perak by getting to know them and trying to enliven mosques and surau, among others.”
Wan Afiq is a final year Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) student at Sultan Azlan Shah University, and is vice-president (youth) of Gerakan Belia 4B Malaysia, a group in which he has been active since school.
He is also a member of Youth Parliament of Malaysia at the state and national levels, and serves as volunteer unit head of Gerak Dakwah Project for the Orang Asli settlement in Pos Perwor, Kg Kelatap, Sg Siput.
Ezatul Farita, 33, expressed her gratitude in being given an opportunity to be part of the council, which is led by members with extensive experience and skills in various fields and disciplines.
She holds a Diploma and Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Food Technology (minor quality and food safety) from UiTM Shah Alam, and is serving as a quality assurance executive at a multinational company in Hutan Melintang.
Ezatul Farita was Perak Youth Council member for the 2017-2019 session, and is active in the Federation of Peninsula Malay Students (GPMS).
She currently holds the position of National GPMS supreme council member and Perak GPMS Women vice-chairman. – Bernama, March 19, 2021
