UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh turned up at the PAS Youth Muktamar here today, accompanied by 25 other Umno Youth members.

Akmal arrived at the Grand Riverview Hotel at about 8.30 am with PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden.

His presence at the gathering drew attention, with Afnan later welcoming the Umno Youth chief in a social media post.

Afnan described Akmal and other Youth leaders from Perikatan Nasional component parties as “new comrades” in pursuing a broader agenda for the ummah.

He said the spirit of unity should continue for the future of religion, race and country.

The PAS Youth Muktamar is being held over two days from yesterday in conjunction with the 72nd PAS Muktamar. Tuan Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the opening ceremony today.

The PAS Ulama and Muslimat wings are also holding their respective muktamar today, in Kota Baru and Bachok.

Akmal’s attendance comes as the annual PAS gathering brings together leaders and delegates from across the party’s various wings. - September 3, 2026
