A TOTAL of 190 foreign nationals and two Malaysian men were detained in an Immigration Department raid on an entertainment centre in Pudu early today following public complaints about disturbances.
Immigration Department deputy director-general (Enforcement) Datuk Basri Othman said the foreign nationals comprised 99 men and 91 women aged between 20 and 41.
Of those detained, 188 were Indonesians, while one each was from Bangladesh and India.
The two Malaysian men are believed to be the employer and caretaker of the premises, which is located about 10 metres from a mosque.
Basri said the entertainment centre had several rooms used for leisure activities, with between 50 and 60 people in each room at the time of the raid.
Immigration offences detected included overstaying and failing to possess valid travel documents.
All those detained were taken to an immigration detention depot for documentation and further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Sections 6(1)(c) and 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, which cover offences involving the absence of valid travel documents and overstaying.
Officers reported finding white powder suspected to be drugs on several plates, as well as condoms in rooms used for entertainment.
Basri said the department did not rule out the possibility of immoral activities taking place at the premises and that further investigations would be conducted. - October 17, 2026
