Sabah’s Keningau under MCO till April 4: Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR – Starting tomorrow until April 4, the Keningau district in Sabah will be placed under the movement control order (MCO).
 
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made after the Health Ministry detected a spike of 42 Covid-19 cases there.
 
This was based on targeted screening in Kg Lingkudau, which has been placed under the enhanced MCO (EMCO).
 
He also said that risks assessments were conducted by various agencies, including the MCO Technical Task Force and Health Ministry.
 
“The implementation of the MCO is to ease the Health Ministry's targeted screenings and to detect several more close contacts, as well as to control the movement of residents in the district,” Ismail Sabri said in a statement today.
 
Ismail Sabri also announced that the EMCO in Kg Tanah Merah, Kota Marudu, Sabah, will be lifted as scheduled tomorrow.
 
He said the Health Ministry has conducted 65 screenings there, with 26 positive cases found.
 
“The (Health Ministry) has confirmed that the remaining positive cases in this locality showed a downtrend and the cluster is controlled,” he said.
 
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also said some 100 individuals were arrested yesterday for various offences related to standard operating procedures. 
 
He said 97 were issued compounds, while three were remanded.
 
The offences included failure to observe social distancing (48 cases), failure to record customer details (27 cases), entertainment centre activities (12 cases), failure to wear masks (11 cases) and unauthorised interstate travel (two cases).
