GEORGE TOWN – Unfazed by the pandemic and political uncertainties, chief minister Chow Kon Yeow is confident that the Penang 2030 plan will be realised.
Mooted in August 2018, Penang 2030 is.an action plan focused on improving livability, economy, civil participation and balanced development to achieve a “family-focused, green and smart state”.
He said the vision is still intact because the state is resilient despite the growing challenges.
He told The Vibes some initiatives under the plan are now being accelerated, especially digitisation.
As part of its digitisation plan, Maxis Sdn Bhd has signed an agreement with the state government on 5G infrastructure and connectivity.
“We envisage 2020 and beyond to be a good year for our economic growth. There is optimism. From 2018 to 2020, we have good investment figures to show, from medical tourism and tourism, but because of the pandemic, we are forced to accelerate other initiatives.
“I hope the next two years will give us time to lay a good foundation and a clearer understanding of Penang 2030,” he said. – The Vibes, October 6, 2020
