KUALA LUMPUR – Umno’s 2021 general assembly has received approval from the Federal Territories National Security Council (NSC), said party secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
In a tweet today, he said the party has been given the green light to hold its general assembly in PWTC here on March 27 and 28.

“I have discussed the matter with the FT NSC director last week. The approval letter is dated March 19, 2021.
“The SOPs (standard operating procedures) will involve 50% of the premises capacity, wearing of face masks, physical distancing and so on.”
Ahmad also met with the police at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters. He tweeted that police approval has been obtained for the general assembly.

Kuala Lumpur is still under the conditional movement control order, which ends on March 31.
Earlier, Umno vice-president and senior minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said state delegates attending the general assembly here would need police permission for interstate travel.
He added that each division could send only six representatives to the assembly, in line with Covid-19 SOPs.
The general assembly this weekend would be conducted via a combination of face-to-face and virtual gatherings.
