KUALA LUMPUR – Efforts to recover the body of one of three workers killed in yesterday’s gantry crane collapse incident at the Sg Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) construction site in Cheras continue today.

Works to stabilise a U-beam structure at the construction site were completed at about 9pm.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Khairul Azuwan Ibrahim said now, work is underway to lower two winches, and will take about three hours.

“Once it is completed, the process of extricating the victim’s body will be done.”

Yesterday, three Chinese nationals were crushed to death and a motorist was seriously injured when a gantry crane toppled over at the SUKE construction site near Persiaran Alam Damai in Cheras here.

The three victims were identified as Ding Kunfu, Jiang Jinboa and Mu Tong Zheng, whose body has yet to be retrieved.

The injured driver – a local man – was brought to the Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital for treatment. – Bernama, March 23, 2021
