KUALA LUMPUR – The helicopter involved in the crash at Subang’s Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport this morning was a private flight from Sg Lembing, Pahang, said the Transport Ministry.
The ministry said in a statement that the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed an Airbus AS350 B3 copter crashed at the airport at 9.25am today.
“The helicopter, operated by Leopad Aviation Sdn Bhd, departed Sg Lembing, Pahang, at 8.30am on a private flight to Subang via Maran, Temerloh, Karak and Batu Caves, with one pilot and four passengers on board.
“A safety investigation will be conducted by the ministry’s Air Accident Investigation Bureau in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.”
According to a Fire and Rescue Department report, one victim suffered a broken right leg and a head injury while another has light injuries on his leg. Three others did not sustain any injuries.
No fires were reported. An emergency call was received at 9.47am today. Teams from the Kota Anggerik fire station and the airport were deployed to the scene.
Petaling Jaya police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the helicopter crashed in the airport compound.
He said all the victims were taken to hospital for further treatment.
This is the fourth helicopter crash in less than six months in the Klang Valley.
On January 1, a helicopter crash in the Port Klang Free Zone, said the CAAM.
In a statement, it said that the helicopter departed the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang at 9.05am and was operating over the Pulau Indah airspace at 9.26am.
Two people were hurt when the two-seater helicopter crashed in an open area in the Port Klang Free Zone at 10am. This was the second incident involving the My Heli Club.
According to the report seen by The Vibes, the two victims were taken to hospital by a West Port ambulance. The Robinson R66 9M-SAW private helicopter had attempted an emergency landing before it crashed.
On November 8, two helicopters crashed in Taman Melawati, Ampang, at noon.
Two people were killed in the incident, while another two were injured. The accident involved a woman and three men.
Authorities believe that the two My Heli Club helicopters were conducting flight tests, but one pilot lost control of the aircraft and crashed in a small clearing.
The flight tests were believed to be part of Jauhari’s My Heli Club. The make of the helicopters were the Heli Cabri 9M-HCB and Heli Cabri 9M-HCA. – The Vibes, March 24, 2021
