MELAKA – The rise of sexual crimes involving minors and secondary school students in the state is becoming more disturbing as it involves those as young as 15 years old, said Melaka police chief Datuk Abdul Majid Mohd Ali.
What is more worrying, he added, is that some of these youngsters will even rent an apartment or book a hotel room to engage in sexual acts, and share their experiences openly with friends via mobile phones.
He said five such cases have been recorded so far this year, adding that 69 cases were reported throughout last year.
“We are worried about the increase in sexual crime cases in Melaka. Therefore, we urge parents to monitor their children’s behaviours and movement so that they don’t get involved in promiscuity that will affect their future.”
Majid said police are now engaging in strategic partnership with the Police Retiree Association and non-governmental organisations in the state to take proactive measures to curb immoral activities among youngsters. – Bernama, March 25, 2021
