SEPANG – The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry will not compromise with those suspected of child abuse and other offences under the Child Act 2001.
Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun said the ministry views seriously a video that has gone viral, showing a kindergarten teacher mistreating a pupil.
“The ministry calls on the authorities concerned to take stern action against the individual, who is proven to have committed an offence against a child,” she told reporters here today.
The 10-second clip, which has sparked public outrage, shows a teacher lifting and hurling a boy in view of her other pupils.
Yesterday, Shah Alam police chief Baharudin Mat Taib was reported to have said the victim’s mother has lodged a report on the matter, and that officers have called up the teacher concerned to record her statement. – Bernama, March 27, 2021
