PUTRAJAYA – Police have opened an investigation paper on a woman’s claim of sexual harassment by an officer at a roadblock here yesterday.
Putrajaya police chief Mohd Fadzil Ali in a statement today said the woman uploaded the allegation onto her Twitter account, adding that the accused officer lodged a report refuting the claim at about 1.35pm yesterday.
He said at 6pm the same day, the 28-year-old owner of the Twitter account lodged a report claiming that she was sexually harassed by an officer at a roadblock here at about 9am.
The woman claimed that the officer had used offensive words, which annoyed her, when he questioned her purpose of going through the roadblock.
Fadzil said initial investigation found that the officer did not utter the words as claimed by the woman.
“Other officers, including Malaysian Armed Forces personnel at the scene, were also investigated, and they have denied any sexual harassment as claimed by the woman.”
He said police are still investigating the case and will submit the papers to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action.
He advised the public against making any speculation on the case as it could jeopardise the investigation.
