BACHOK – The Economic Planning Unit (EPU) has started receiving proposals for Budget 2022, said Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

The minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of the economy said the next step is to draft the spending plan, and this will begin next month and end in August.

“We don’t know the Budget’s allocation, but EPU has received most ministries’ applications. We will fine-tune it from April, and it is expected to be finalised in August.

“Then, we will consult the Finance Ministry, which will decide the allocation,” he told the press after a Malaysia Prihatin programme at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan here today.

The programme, organised by the Prime Minister’s Department in collaboration with the Kelantan administration, aims to inform the public of the importance of managing Covid-19 to revive the economy.

Present was Bachok MP Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.

Mustapa said some of the allocation applications received involve funding to boost infrastructure.

“Most of the process begins at EPU, for us to see what should be prioritised.

“It is a long list, related to the construction of police stations, schools, hospitals and roads, as well as maintenance.” – Bernama, March 28, 2021
