JOHOR BARU – Johor Umno guarantees that it will remain with the federal government, said Datuk Hasni Mohammad.
The menteri besar and state chapter’s liaison committee chairman said the guarantee is important to ensure government plans and programmes for the people can be implemented properly and according to schedule.
“It is the responsibility and intention of the state government to translate the federal government’s plans as best as possible.
“Therefore, we will continue with the approach or method used by the government, which is to prioritise the interests of the people and state,” he told reporters here today.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also Perikatan Nasional chairman and Bersatu president, said his party will remain with the Johor government to ensure residents’ prosperity.
On several assemblymen’s view that an alternative state assembly sitting be held, Hasni said he sees no need for it.
Johor has a state secretary and deputy secretary, who can monitor every programme under the state’s 2021 budget, he said.
“Every item discussed at the assembly is monitored and reported at the weekly exco meeting. In fact, under the emergency ordinance, we can continue with administration and spending if we need a supplementary budget.
“So, there is nothing that will affect or delay the running of a programme for the people.
“Therefore, there is no need to hold a special sitting to review policies, or the effectiveness of the state budget and programmes carried out by the government.” – Bernama, April 1, 2021
