GEORGE TOWN – The government will get the latest clinical data from Covid-19 vaccine manufacturer AstraZeneca for analysis by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) and Vaccine Selection Technical Working Group (TWG), following reports of the shot’s side effects in the United Kingdom.
National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Putrajaya will not decide whether to proceed with the vaccine selection based on only news reports, but will instead look at clinical data.
“The Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee – chaired by me and the health minister – gets advice from two bodies, namely the NPRA and TWG.
“When we receive new information, we will ask AstraZeneca for clinical information to make a decision, and, so far, we have not receive any information that requires us to take a different stance.”
However, Khairy said he will obtain clinical information so that NPRA and TWG could make a decision to advise the committee for the next course of action. – Bernama, April 2, 2021
