KOTA KINABALU – Three Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) residential colleges here will be put under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) starting tomorrow until April 18.
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement said the affected residential colleges are KK Tun Mustapha, KK Tun Fuad, and KK Tun Pengiran Ahmad Raffae.
So far, the Health Ministry has conducted 133 screenings and found 19 Covid-19 cases in the locality. It also confirmed that the virus has spread among residents at the colleges with a high infectivity rate.
Meanwhile, the movement control order (MCO) for Sabah's Keningau district has been extended to April 18. As of today, there has been a total of 2,138 cases recorded with several villages under EMCO.
The ministry has confirmed that there are a few new clusters in the district and a surge in community cases. For the last 14 days, the district has 148 active cases.
Keningau’s Kg Pagalungan Ansip will be placed under EMCO from tomorrow until April 18. The ministry has detected 15 cases after screening 146 individuals. The movement restriction is to allow for the screening of the villagers involved.
Kg Kalindukan in Nabawan, Sabah has also been served the EMCO from tomorrow until April 18, after eight infections were recorded.
The EMCO will end for Taman Guru in Kuantan, Pahang tomorrow, ahead of its scheduled date of April 9. A total of 89 cases were detected and 481 individuals screened. The ministry said the current active cases are under control and there are no more tests results pending.
Ismail Sabri said 248 individuals were arrested yesterday for violating the standard operating procedures, of which 228 received compounds, 17 out on bail and three detained.
Among the violations recorded are entertainment centre activities (205), lack of physical distancing (17), failure to record personal details using MySejahtera (11), interstate/inter-district travel without approval (8), failure to wear face mask (4) and others (3). – The Vibes, April 4, 2021
