KOTA KINABALU – The United Sabah National Organisation (Usno) has expressed its interest to be part of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) alliance.
Its president, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, said he has requested for Usno to be part of the ruling Sabah alliance.
“Yes, we have asked to be a member of the GRS, and hopefully, we will be given a role in the ruling alliance.
“Our fight is for Sabahans and to ensure state leaders focus on state matters.”
The former Dewan Rakyat speaker was made Usno president on February 19.
Pandikar is a former leader of Akar, a splinter party of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) formed in 1989. The party was dissolved in 2001 to allow its members to join Umno.
In the Sabah polls on September 26 last year, Usno contested in 45 seats, but failed to win any.
GRS comprises Barisan Nasional’s Umno, MCA, MIC and PBRS, as well as Perikatan Nasional’s Bersatu, PAS, PBS, Sabah Star and SAPP.
On pushes to reconvene Parliament, Pandikar said it should be decided by the prime minister or parliamentary council chief.
